POP! Tip #2: See the Beauty in Your Budget
It’s the 2nd in the POP! Tip series! This series is meant to guide you as you build your platform/brand/book/art/business audience. We are launching the next POP! Mastermind and wanted to share with you some of the goodness we delve into in the 7-month business mastermind.
Here goes!
In month two, the POP!Stars design their beautiful budget. A budget that shows them what is possible, not what isn’t. A budget that gives a launchpad to dreams, not a trip down limitation lane. Although when you flip a limitation on its head you have a huge advantage…but I get ahead of myself :).
Beautiful you say? Yep.
I know you are all grown ups. You all know the importance of a budget. You want to create a more abundant life for yourself and your family. And with adulting comes the beautiful budget, but not like the ones you might have been bludgeoned with by a parent, mate or high interest credit card.
What is a beautiful budget?
One that grows with you. One that is alive, shifting, changing, loving, and empowering you along the way. One that proves a guide for success and manifesting your Original Dream…the one you’re destined to fulfill while you are here with us on planet earth.
How do you create a budget that helps you manifest everything you want to manifest versus a budget that tells you that you cannot do something because there’s not enough money?
You have to realize this:

That quote is from my book: Life by the Cup, and really distills the essence of how we see budgets in POP! They are something that helps us shape a new paradigm in business. How so?
So, when I was starting up my tea company, I didn’t have money to buy flavorings. What I did have was a set of essential oils in a kit from an aromatherapy certification program I’d taken.
I looked at those essential oils when I had been worried I was too limited to start the company because, well, I didn’t have a budget to do it. Then the AHA happened: What if I could use essential oils instead of flavorings and offer my teas that way?
What happened in that moment predicted my success. Blending essential oils in teas was a lost art of the Silk Road. It was a Chinese and Parisian art of tea blending that had disappeared. Did I know that? NO. Did it make my tea unique, better, more addictive? Yes.
You see, the budget is like this. It’s a means to reinvent how business or art is done. I don’t have the range of Norah Jones, and Norah doesn’t have the range of Lady Gaga, but our limits actually are not limits at all but perimeters of our genius–creating that sound that singles us out in a crowd.
Singing, budgets, wah?
Harmonizing with money makes the money sing. It also creates an enviable business.
Take Uber (before the scandals)…what did it do? Liberate us from needing a car. Liberated drivers from needing to work 9-5 or longer. Opened the world up through the limitations of the passenger budget and the driver’s lifestyle. One driver I spoke with says he turns his app off and gets to totally be with his kids now…wow.
So, your budget is a tool for empowering your genius and the genius in your business/art/fill in the blank.
You don’t have a budget for Facebook ads? Who cares? Write content that is so yummy it gets shared like crazy…you get the picture!
